With a background in finance, commercial and industrial real estate was a natural fit for Mike Houlker and he has consistently been one of Bayleys’ top performing agents since joining the company almost 30 years ago.
Noticing the reservations that some smaller investors had about the significant outlay involved in direct property investment and having all their investment capital tied up in one property, Mike began investigating alternative property options for these types of investors. Working with leading syndicators, Mike has project managed the marketing and sell down of over 40 syndications over the past 13 years with a total property value in the vicinity of $600 million.
During this time, he has developed an unrivalled knowledge of this sector of the market and the key ingredients required in a good syndication product. He has also built up New Zealand’s largest database of syndicate investors. Mike is Bayleys Head of Syndication and Investment Products and is also qualified as an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA).

Samara is the Syndicated Investment Manager for the Bayleys Syndication Division and manages the process from marketing through to sales and investor relations. Working with leading syndicators, Bayleys Syndication Division provides investors the opportunity to access premium, high yielding commercial and industrial property offerings with a minimum investment of $50,000.
Samara has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management from the University of Otago and is also qualified as an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA). Samara joined Bayleys Auckland in 2010. Prior to that she worked for a property syndication and management company in various roles involving investor relations, marketing and property management from 2006 to 2010.
After more than ten years working in the syndicated property area, Samara has developed a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of this sector of the market and in particular the importance of client communication and care. Sarah is an integral part of Bayleys Syndication Division with her core focus on investor relations and ensuring clients receive the highest level of service. Her attention to detail, ability to build strong working relationships with a wide range of people, and results-focused service makes Sarah a valued member of the Bayleys Syndication Division.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Property and Bachelor of Science from Auckland University and has a long association with Bayleys having worked part-time in the research team whilst completing her studies. After graduating in 2009, Sarah joined the Auckland Central Commercial and Industrial team (also managed by Mike Houlker) working firstly in a administration role gaining valuable insight into the behind the scenes workings of a high performing team and then worked successfully in a sales and leasing role focusing on the Southern Corridor.
Sarah is able to leverage off the combined market knowledge of the team and the broad resources of the wider Bayleys network to optimise outcomes for all her clients.

Lillie has recently joined the Bayleys Syndication Division to provide administration and marketing support functions along with investor relations.
Lillie has a Bachelor of Law from the University of Otago and became an enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in October.
With her legal background Lillie is organised and system orientated with an eye for detail and can assist investors with completing their application forms and providing the correct documentation along with answering general questions.
